To Bowl or Not To Bowl

After Vanderbilt's solid win over Rice, it looks like they may be able to pull off another 6-win season and a bowl trip despite a tough remaining schedule. Especially if LSU and Miss. St. are both for real. Vanderbilt took tough losses to both. The Miss. St. loss looked especially bad, but, after their close call with LSU, Miss. St. may actually be a good team. The defense has been solid all season, and the offense showed some life against Rice. Anyway, here is how I think they can get the additional 4 wins.

Their next game is Mississippi at home. While this will probably be a loss, it's not inconceivable that they'll pull off the upset over a dejected Ole Miss that just realized it wasn't a very good football team. Ole Miss and Vanderbilt is typically a very competitive game, but I'll predict an L for the 'Dores. The next game is at an Army team that recently lost to Duke, which should be a solid W. Then they have Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Florida, which will all be losses. This brings us to the 3 must-win games of the season: South Carolina, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Judging from the play of these teams, they are no better than Vandy. South Carolina will probably provide the stiffest challenge, but I think these games should be competitive and all of them could be wins. Kentucky's performance against Florida was embarrassing, as was Tennessee's performance against Ohio.
