Picks - Week 12

Our standings (last week, overall):

Chuck Visor: 7-2, 50-29

Drake McHugh, Esq.: 6-3, 44-35

Max Power: 6-3, 43-27

Full Monte Kiffin: 7-2, 39-30

Brocktoon: 3-6, 39-40

Carter Slade: 1-0, 25-19

Woody Widenhoefer: 0-0, 22-18

Dick C'est Bon: 0-0, 14-12

Arnold Porkzenegger: 0-0, 3-4

Herschel Talker: 0-0, 0-1

Miss. State (+11.5) at Arkansas - SEC Network 12:21 ET - MSU is improved everywhere but in the win-loss column. Oh, yeah, and they laid an egg against Bama at home last week. What chance should I give them to show any life against Arky? They need to win both of their last 2 games just to get bowl eligible. I think the cowbells will save all their emotion for the Egg Bowl next week. Hawgs roll.

Chattanooga at Alabama (no line) - SEC Network (split coverage) 12:21 ET - The only interesting question is how long Ingram stays in and whether he gets the stats he needs for his Heisman campaign. Roll Tide.

Florida International (+45) at Florida - (PPV) 12:30 ET - Bama beat FIU 40-14 back in September. Urban will want to beat the Airport by more than that. Go Gators!

LSU (+4) at Ole Miss - CBS 3:30 ET - I got burned last week because I thought Auburn and Tennessee should have been favored so I took them plus points. Vegas knew more than I did, as both UGA and Ole Miss covered. This week, I'd expect LSU to be favored in this game. Vegas says it's the Rebs that have the upper hand. With fear and loathing, I'll take the fightin's Nutts. PS, don't wear white to the game, you may be sending an unintended message.

Vanderbilt (+17) at Tennessee - ESPNU 7:00 ET - Some rivalry. UT is 70-27-5 all time against the smart kids. Vandy last won in 2005, and that was their first win in 22 years. Last year, when Vandy went 6-6 in the regular season and won the Music City Bowl, the 'Dores were actually favored by 3 and, in true Vandy fashion, lost 20-10. Vols need the win to get bowl eligible. Despite their off-field troubles, I like UT to win, and win comfortably, just not by 17. Give me the Dores and the points. I'll regret it Sunday.

Kentucky (+9.5) at Georgia - ESPN2 7:45 ET - Herschel Talker said earlier in the season that all these close Georgia games might make him have a heart attack. Well, apparently Uga VII couldn't take it any more. Even without their mascot, I think the Dawgs can handle the Cats. But can they beat 'em by 10? I think that UK can keep it close. I'll take UK and the points.

Auburn (+5) v. Bye Week - Auburn's the kind of team this year that could lose in a bye week, AMIRIGHT?

Bonus Picks:

Ohio State (-12.5) at Meeshagan - Right now, Michigan couldn't beat Western Michigan (of the Mich directional schools, they're the bad one). Buckeyes roll. Remember the Rose Bowl, they'll lose to Oregon then.

Harvard at Yale - the 126th playing of The Game. The Elis leads the all-time series 65-52-8. But the Crimson have won the last 2 and 7 of the last 8. Harvard (6-3, 5-1) will end up 2nd in the Ivy after losing to Penn last week. Yale (4-5, 2-4) is having a down year. Crimson signal-caller Winters will light it up in the air in the first half, then Gordon will punish the Bulldogs on the ground in the second. Illegitimum non Carborundum -- ipso facto!

5 comments:

  1. Miss. State (+11.5) at Arkansas - SEC Network 12:21 ET - WOO PIG SOOIE! Petrino's Pigs take down the Bullpups. Arkansas covers.

Chattanooga at Alabama (no line) - SEC Network (split coverage) 12:21 ET - Bama wins and hopefully Ingram has an off day so people will stop pushing him for Heisman.

Florida International (+45) at Florida - (PPV) 12:30 ET - Gators win and cover.

LSU (+4) at Ole Miss - CBS 3:30 ET - While my heart is saying take the Rebels and the points, my head is saying that Ole Miss is due a letdown after a great game last week. LSU wins.

Vanderbilt (+17) at Tennessee - ESPNU 7:00 ET - The Fightin' Kiffins will be mad after last week and will rightfully take it out on Vandy. Vols win and cover.

Kentucky (+9.5) at Georgia - ESPN2 7:45 ET - UGA's stock is rising and I actually like them to win and cover in this one. Hopefully they won't let me down...

Auburn (+5) v. Bye Week - Tight contest, but Auburn squeaks this one out.

    Bonus Picks:

Ohio State (-12.5) at Meeshagan - THE Ohio State University wins and covers. Michigan is terrible.

Harvard at Yale - the 126th playing of The Game. Harvard wins.

  2. My picks, which can't be worse than last week:

Arkansas (-11.5): I don't even know which team will show up on each side of the field, but I'll go with Arkansas, who I expect will win and hopefully will cover.

    Alabama (+0): Go Mocs!

FIU (+45): I have to pick FIU, who was my dynasty team on NCAA Football 2005 (yes, that's the last one I've played regularly). After three years I had 5-star recruits wanting to come to Miami to play for the Golden Panthers. After 2007 (in the game), I was playing for a national championship every year. Those first two years were brutal, though, as the QB stunk and they had no running game. Did I mention all of this was on the Gamecube?

LSU (+4): Although they'll probably lose with J. Lee at the helm.

Tennessee (-17): If Vanderbilt loses by 16 or less, it'll be just like a win.

Kentucky (+9.5): Who knows on this one. Georgia won last week, and Kentucky could be playing at any level, so I don't really know.

    No Auburn response

OSU (-12.5): To second Max Power, Michigan is really really terrible.

Harvard (+0): The only Crimson team I'll pull for.

Chattanooga at Alabama (no line) - SEC Network (split coverage) 12:21 ET - Hope for a win here and no injuries.

Florida International (+45) at Florida - (PPV) 12:30 ET - UF Wins but doesn't cover.

LSU (+4) at Ole Miss - CBS 3:30 ET - I still don't think LSU is healed from the Bama beatdown, I think Ole Miss wins and covers.

Vanderbilt (+17) at Tennessee - ESPNU 7:00 ET - UT wins and covers, as long as no more players get arrested before Saturday.

Kentucky (+9.5) at Georgia - ESPN2 7:45 ET - UGA wins and covers in honor of the death of UGA.

Auburn (+5) v. Bye Week - AU squeaks it out

Chattanooga at Alabama (no line) - SEC Network (split coverage) 12:21 ET - I'll go with bama.

Florida International (+45) at Florida - (PPV) 12:30 ET - jorts win but dont cover

LSU (+4) at Ole Miss - CBS 3:30 ET - I'll go with ole miss based on how they played last week.

Vanderbilt (+17) at Tennessee - ESPNU 7:00 ET - Vols win and cover

Kentucky (+9.5) at Georgia - ESPN2 7:45 ET - I'll take UKY as GA will still be morning the loss of Uga.

Auburn (+5) v. Bye Week - I'll take Auburn to win and cover.

    Bonus Picks:

Ohio State (-12.5) at Meeshagan - Since my in-laws are big MI fans, I'll take Michigan to shock Tressel's turds

  5. Seems I may have missed the start of a game or two, although, scouts honer here that I don't know the score of any games at this time. dock me whatever points you need to. here are my tardy picks.

Miss. State (+11.5) at Arkansas - SEC Network 12:21 ET - WOO PIG SOOIE! Man, with basically a 12 point head start, I will take MSU.

Chattanooga at Alabama (no line) - SEC Network(split coverage) 12:21 ET - Bama will somehow find a way to squeek this one out.

Florida International (+45) at Florida - (PPV) 12:30 ET - With 45 points, I take the underdog FIU in this one.

LSU (+4) at Ole Miss - CBS 3:30 ET - I would pick LSU straight up in this one. the points are gravy.

Vanderbilt (+17) at Tennessee - ESPNU 7:00 ET - It pains me to say this, but I like Tennessee to cover here.

Kentucky (+9.5) at Georgia - ESPN2 7:45 ET - UGA should be able to take this one in a night game at home. Georgia to cover.

Auburn (+5) v. Bye Week - Auburn here.

    Bonus Picks:

Ohio State (-12.5) at Meeshagan - In rivalry games, i tend to pick them to be closer than normal. Michigan.

Harvard at Yale - I'll go Harvard here.
